Govt plans to improve quality of education in rural areas

ITANAGAR, Sept 05: The department of education is working hard to improve the quality of education in the state particularly in rural areas, this endeavor will continue in the days to come, said Education Minister Bosiram Siram while extending his wishes to state teacher awardees and one national awardee during Teachers day celebration at Banquest Hall here today.

Meanwhile, briefing the achievement of the department under his ministership, Siram informed that despite all odd the salary of SSA teachers were enhanced last year and informed that the Government is planning to include SSA teachers in the State Teachers Award from next year.
He further informed that government has enhanced the cash award of State Teachers Award to Rs 15000 from Rs 10,000.

No question of unfair means in recruitment process: Police

ITANAGAR, Sept 05: The Arunachal Pradesh Police has dismissed the rumours going around that unfair means are being adopted in the ongoing recruitment for APPBn and IRBn constables.
In a press briefing held in the conference hall of PHQ here today Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Taba Tusar urged every one not to believe in rumour and said APP is carrying out clean recruitment process.
Explaining in details about transparency being maintained in the recruitment process AIGP Tusar said entire process is computerized and videographed and therefore question of unfair means does not arise.
“We are following the recruitment process of ministry of home affairs (MHA), Govt
of India. Under this process we are emphasizing on seven processes, mainly, digital
and height management, biometric authentication, multiple choice question paper,
written answer script on OMR format, CCTV and video coverage and lastly compilation
of answer script and generation of result using E-
Further he added, “We have collected finger prints of all the candidates during physical test. They were allowed to sit in written exam after matching finger print and written examination was conducted under CCTV surveillance.” Tusar also informed that except the concern superintendent of police of the particular district, rest of the recruitment members comes from other district and therefore reducing the chances of locals influencing the process.
He did agree that some miscreants use such process to make money for themselves by luring those desperately poor families who goes to any extent to get job. “Usually some miscreants go around to all candidates who had qualified for written test and ask them money saying they have contacts with these and that persons. If they collect money from 10 boys and if even 4 boys from that group manage to get job by their own talent, they will claim credit. They return back money to those candidates who could not get and present them some excuse. Candidates should trust their own talent and not waste time and money,” Tusar added. He called on candidates to contact him personally or police headquarter if they know any such miscreants who are promising them job in return for money adding that their identity will be kept secret.
He added that APP is trying their best to conduct clean recruitment drive and therefore rumours of unfair means are hurting the sentiment of police officials. “If a police officer takes bribe from young boys to be recruited as constable, how can we expect them to respect us after joining force? Infact people of Arunachal will see definite change in the working attitude of Arunachal police in years to come due to the open and fair recruitment process being used by APP,” said AIGP Taba Tusar. He urged all the candidates not to listen to rumours being spread by miscreants and trust their own talent.
One fugitive surrenders at Bordumsa
ITANAGAR, Sept 05: One Bishnu Chakma of Bijoypur Bet Camp under Bordumsa Circle of Changlang district, wanted in connection with Bordumsa PS Case No. 24/2012 U/S 384/34 IPC has surrendered before ADC Bordumsa and OC of Bordumsa police station in the office chamber of the ADC today.
The constant joint efforts put forth by the local administration, local police and Dy. SP Dipankar Mishra (SIT) PHQ Itanagar, camp Namsai compelled the fugitive to surrender, said ADC Kento Riba in a release. The accused has been handed over to the OC PS Bordumsa by the ADC Bordumsa with a direction to take him into police custody as well as to complete required legal formalities. With his arrest the Bordumsa police has almost cracked down on the members of the extortionist group operating from Bet Camp, Bijoypur I village in the name of a UG organization by using their letter head to demand ransom from the tea garden owners and business community at Bordumsa. The members are now lodged in police custody at PS Bordumsa in connection with above referred case.

ITANAGAR, Sept 05: Teachers’ Day was celebrated throughout the state with various programmes commemorating the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
At Namsai, a mass avenue plantations of ornamental trees and flowers was organised along the divider of the township road.
Finance, Planning and PWD Minister Chowna Mein, MLA Nang Sati Mein along with public leaders, officer, teachers, and various other NGOs participated in the plantation program.

National fortnight on eye donation awareness prog
TEZU, Sept 05: National Fortnight on Eye Donation Awareness Programme was observed at Auditorium Hall of Government Higher Secondary School, here on August 31. The programme organized by the District Blindness Control Society was well attended by the officials of District Medical, teachers and students of Tezu circle.

ITANAGAR, Sept 05: Tagin Welfare Society Itanagar has deeply mourned the demise of Pitar Dolum who died on Sunday at Heema Hospital here. Late Dolum was serving as assistant mining development officer at Koloriang in Kurung Kumey district. He is survived by his wife and two minor daughters. The Society termed his death as irreparable loss to family and society.
DA declares bandh illegal
ITANAGAR, Sept 05: The capital complex district administration today declared the proposed 12 hours bandh called by All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) in support of NESO on September 6 as illegal. In a release district administration stated that bandh calls caused hardship to common people particularly daily wage earners. Further, it maintained that bandh call creates serious law and order problem, and forced administration to engage more forces which involves huge expenditures.

National award for 2 state teachers

GSU opposes bail to Jumkar Basar murder accused
ITANAGAR, Sept 05: The Galo Students Union (GSU), in a letter to Chief Judicial Magistrate, Papum Pare District, Yupia appealed not to grant bail to any of the accused in the Jumkar Basar murder case to ensure proper investigation.
Since the accused are habitual offenders, who can commit any crime to subdue the process of investigation, if granted bail, the GSU letter said.

1st phase on FTK Training concludes
ITANAGAR, Sept 05: Three days Field Test Kit (FTK) training for Gram Panchayats of Kurung Kumey District on handling of kit for water quality testing concluded.
The 1st phase training programme was started from Sangram and concluded at Koloriang.
On the inaugural day Sangram, PHE & WS department Executive Engineer Tadar Ukap, briefed about the aim, objectives and important of the FTK to the members of the village water & Sanitation Committee (VWSC ) and public who were present on the training programme.
He also disclosed that the assets created under drinking water supply would be subsequently transferred and handed over to the respective PRIs for its operation and maintenance after imparting proper training to them.
While distributing the kit he said Panchayats should take the responsibility in achieving good water quality in their locality.

School library dedicated to students on Teachers day
ITANAGAR, Sept 05: ASM of Model Village, Taying Kuma today inaugurated the school library at Govt Hr Secondary School, Naharlagun amidst huge gathering to mark the Teachers Day celebration. ZPM’s death condoled
Itanagar, Sept 05: The Topo (Lode) Welfare Society expressed deep shock over the sudden demise of Pakde Uli, ZPM of 9th Gusar Anchal Samity in a motor vehicle accident near Doimukh on September 2 while he was on way to Itanagar from Daporijo.
Pakde Uli served Anchal Samity Member of Nguki Uli village before he was elected as ZPM of Gusar Anchal Samity in April 2008. He is served by his wife and 5 children.
The Topo (Lode) Welfare Society conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Yupia NIT fraternity conducts social service
ITANAGAR, Sept 05: The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Yupia under its ambitious “Clean and Green project” conducted a social service in the vicinity of the institute, which also covered a major portion of Yupia town, to commemorate the birthday of great scholar and educationist Dr.Sharvepalli Radhakrishnan.
Besides the NSS unit of the NIT, the social service was participated by the students, faculty and officers.
The friendly cricket match between Faculty and Students were also played to mark the occasion.
In the meanwhile, NIT family prayed for early recovery of the its Director, who is still in bed rest. The Director met with a road accident on August 21.
TDCCC coaching centre inaugurated
KHONSA, Sept 04: The Tirap District Career Counseling Cell (TDCCC) Coaching Centre was formally inaugurated by Tirap deputy commissioner Dr. Sachin Shinde today.
Speaking on the occasion, Shinde told the students that the TDCCC will not guarantee any job but only guide the candidates for various interviews as well as entrance examinations. The onus will be on the candidates to take full advantage of the counseling, he said and cautioned the students to be disciplined.

Lura system : a scientific Mithun management

The article by Nyali Ete on 'Management of Mithun by Galos of Arunachal Pradesh' published in this daily on Monday last is indeed very interesting. Such indigenous management practices of precious semi wild animal species deserve appreciation and needs to be popularized throughout the Mithun inhabited areas of the state. The Lura system of Mithun management clearly reflects judicious and sustainable management and utilization of Common property resources because a large majority of our farmers depend on such Common property resources (CPR) to feed their animals to make a living. CPR mainly consists of village pastures belonging to the community, panchayats, revenue and forest land. CPRs are under severe degradation due to unsustainable exploitation and lack of attempt for its regeneration apart from lack of willingness of the custodians of common land. My best wishes to all the village community for adopting such scientific and innovative management practices.
